I’m pretty tired… I think I’m going to bed… this song feels like that. Guitar, Banjo… Thanks for listening.
Whalen and I were drunk when we recorded this… can you tell? We just hit record and start playing, what you hear here didn’t come till we had played for quite some time. I improvised the lyrics off of something he said while taking a sip (as you’ll hear in the beginning) Whalen played drums I played guitar and we both made noises that might be confused for singing… Enjoy…
This song is about playing music and how people should listen to and play music and what to expect when doing such a thing… for as ugly a descritpion as that it is really a pretty song… I just bought an accordion and decided to throw some accordion on it at the last minute. bear with me since I just bought it I’m still learning how to play it. In this song I play… Guitar, Percussion, Accordion and Vocals.
This song is in a pretty rough form… I am too tired to produce it up. I enjoyed adding the wierd winnow sound which is just me whistling into a beer bottle with a bunch of delay added. I play banjo and drums (with a poorly functioning bass trigger –I gotta work that out) and sing.
The new song is for my girlfriend… it’s about having to hide the fact the we are dating from certain people… (pssst we work together) She made the joke that we need code names… so I wrote this about it. There are like 13 different tracks… heavy production gets tough when your as sloppy as me. In it I play…
Mandolin, Drums, Several Guitars, harmonica etc.
The new song is an instrumental that I did a few months ago. It was at a period when my computer keyboard wasn’t working so to make the name I used the mouse to copy and paste out of another song called “the motherload”… I thought Therlomo sounded cool once I got my keyboard working again so I kept it. I think it would be a cool sports pep song. I’m gonna try and get the track order so that the new song is always at 1. Now they are in alphabetical order… and this one is called “therlomo”
Brad Wray: Guitars, Keyboard
Frank the Drum computer Robot: Drums
This is a new project of mine. One day I was napping and woke up and bought this domain name. I thought that a written blog is something special on its own but oftentimes I record more songs than write blog posts. So I figured I’d incorporate both of those into this wordpress blog. The title means that I will be coming up with something new every sunday and thursday. This post (and the four songs in the player already) count for Sun, Feb 5. Hopefully I’ll be able to write and record (at least a rough version) of a song twice a week…. Even if it’s just guitar and vocals… or just vocals… or even just me recording some room noise. I didn’t use my previously existing site (http://www.bradwray.net) because I’ll be collaborating with friends on the recordings. (and I don’t want to be on eof those pretentious frontman named-band guys) So far the songs in the player have either been just me or me and Brian Jump (an amazing musician who plays evey wednesday at Youngs Tavern on the southside) or me and Andrew Whalen (a guy who sleeps on the couch upstairs and seems to be able to pick up any instrument and do something creative with it) Each word post will be the liner notes for the new recording as well as lyrics and a story about it. So this is a true to form MP3 blog.
Curious George… Brad Wray: Banjo, Mandolin, Harmonica, Vocals
