Mama Said

Mama Said

This is a short bluesy things I did just to throw something up… I actually recorded this about a year ago. I’ve just been lazy. It’s just me stompin’ and playin harmonica and grunting… Enjoy.

The Old World

The Old World

This is Brian Jump, Ben Hardt and I doing an old world jam with accordion, guitar and mandolin… just sortof an impromtu jam… Okay… Okay… so it took a couple of takes… but it was my fault.

Brian Jump: Accordion, High vocal

Ben Hardt: Mandolin, middle vocal

Brad Wray: Guitar, low vocal

The Space Travels of Chonso and Commander Steve: Episode VII, Narcissistic Moontang

The Space Travels of Chonso and Commander Steve: Episode VII, Narcissistic Moontang

This is a Science fiction comedy sketch that Brian Jump and I concocted using musical instruments for all of the background sounds. It follows the space travels of a vein Space Commander and his sidekick First Mate Chonso. They encounter rogue dolphins and stowaway nuns and deal with them all in a well-thought-out manner. I hope you enjoy…

Brian Jump: Voice of Chonso, a bunch of sound effect instruments

Brad Wray: Voice of Commander Steve, a bunch of instruments

Aug 3rd Foot tap

Aug 3rd Foot tap

This song was originally intended to be a big powerful blues rock called “Aug3rd stomp” but since I toned it down quieter I figured that I’d call it Aug 3rd foot tap… Aug 3rd was when i wrote it. It’s about mean people… and why they suck so bad.

I just play guitar and sing on this.

I’ll put up the lyrics for once…

It’s true I’ve been under the gun
and you can’t stand my puns
when I try to, make you smile
you just drown me out with a words of pure denial
but I can see the empathy in you
yea ea ea yaeahh yea ea ea yaeahh
I can’t find the time
for hiding things from the blind
if you can’t tell how I feel
how could you tell if anythigns for real
and oh oh my momma said sometimes people aint so right in the head no no No no
thank God since old sliced bread, it’s the greatest thing to be greater than oh yeah oh yeah

I picked up but then fell down
scared from the stormy sounds
lightning in my ears thunder in my
bones, rainsoaked clothes
it’s a big bad world out there
nobody seems to give a care
just remember that loving doesn’t break the rules

The Yes Men Theme Song

The Yes Men Theme Song

I heard about this group of social vigilantes called the “Yes Men” who pull big corporate pranks. (their most famous one was when they faked being DOW Chemical spokespersons and went on the BBC to apologize for the Bophal chemical spill in India which killed/harmed hundereds of thousands… DOW has never apologized formally for it… so the yes men did it for them) Anyway… I really like that sort of thing so I wrote them a quick theme song. Kindof like the batman theme or dick tracy or something. Anyway I sent it to them and they really like it alot and said they will use it if/when they make another DVD movie. Pretty cool huh? You can check out the yes men at Theyesmen.org
This all happened a while ago… I didn’t get a chance to record a song this week so I put up an old one… sue me. I play guitar and frank the drum computer robot blows the doors off with amazing drum loop percusion. All laurels to frank.

The Game Over March

The Game Over March

This is what it would sound like if the evil monster necrorobotoclamochimpoconosaurus would fight the four horsemen of the apocolypse and neither would win but would instead go out for drinks and give toasts to things like… you and me. BTW Necrorobotoclamochimpoconosaurus is an evil dead robot version of a chimp with clam hands and a lizard tail… he used to be king… thank God for term limits…
I play a bunch of instruments in this song… too many to list here.

The Hollow Bones of Birds

The Hollow Bones of Birds

I was about to lay down for a nap at Gwen’s… and then I realized that I would not have a song for Thurs unless I recorded one asafp… so I downloaded Audacity onto her mac and used it to crank out this. I keep a Ukulele down at her place for just this sort of situation… and also for serenading. This song is about how our society structures success in the very same way that more than not leads a person to failure.

Oh yeah and if you ever want to just download the mp3s of these songs you should go here

Alone and In The Woods

Alone and In The Woods

I recorded this song in about three hours last night… wow! It’s about nature. The woods. etc. On an unrelated note, I had this dream last night that I was trying to kill a raven with a sword from the top of a tree… and I was having a tough time of it. I landed a couple of hits on the bastard but could never bring him down. Until he landed on the same branch as me and I swung at him and cut the branch off so that we both went falling down. We survived the fall but then I swung at him again and broke the sword on the ground… some girl said “oh poor baby” It was really weird.

So anyway this song (which has nothing to do with that dream) came out pretty well… I think I need to remix the vocals i.e. turn them way down. In it I play Guitar, Bass, Drums, Accordion, Dulcimer and Vocals.

Paradoxes Including Me

Paradoxes Including Me

This is a quirky story song that I wrote and recorded a while ago… it has many themes from arthurian legends to slum bum hypnotist romances… I just play guitar and sing in this one. I would have recorded something this week but I’ve been at a training in Williamsport all week. It was great. I learned about furnaces and chimney drafts and stuff like that. I think I might play some open mike nights around Pittsburgh sometime soon… I’ll keep you posted.
